Romantic drama adapted by English author Jojo Moyes from her 2012 novel of the same name. Louisa lives in a town in the English countryside and helps her working-class family make ends meet. She takes a job at the local "castle," and becomes a caregiver to Will Traynor, a wealthy young banker, paralyzed from the neck down after the accident. First Will reacts coldly to Lou's upbeat disposition and treats her with contempt, but later the two become close friends. Lou organizes various trips and adventures to show Will that life is worth living. But Will has made up his mind and intends to follow through with his assisted suicide in Switzerland, and asks her to be with him in his last moments of life.
